Be green around your home
by Caroline Hansen
People are trying more and more nowadays to do everything they can to boost their green credentials, particularly around the home.
There are some simple measures you can take to try and make sure your property has plenty of eco-friendly characteristics and helps to reduce your carbon footprint. If possible, try to look for sustainable hardwood doors and engineered wood flooring for your home. This is a great environmentally-friendly solution to some of the problems that the planet as a whole is facing at the moment. If the wood you’re using comes from well-managed sources, it can really help to reduce the number of trees being felled throughout the world.
You can do some other things when you’re redecorating to ensure you’re being less harmful to the environment as well. When it comes to choosing the paints you’re going to use, try to look for those with fewer chemicals in them, as they will damage the environment far less than more traditional varieties on the market. Doing your bit to help the environment could also benefit your finances, so it’s worth bearing that in mind, even if you have to pay out a little extra in the short term in some cases.

You can save some money around the house by opting for eco-friendly and energy-saving lightbulbs around the place. Energy-efficient bulbs use significantly less electricity than their traditional counterparts, so you’re bound to see the difference in your energy bills at the end of each month – particularly in the winter when it gets dark far earlier in the evening.
It’s worth doing everything you can at the moment to save the planet, as it’ll be your children and grandchildren who will be left to deal with the effects of climate change and global warming in the years to come.
